What I eventually found was that the surface isn't flat on the one I got. It has a couple of nubs of plastic around several of the highly critical bolt holes around the coolant passage near the egr valve. Also, be careful if you have one of these and are replacing the gasket again. On mine, the throttle body hit the gasket. Just scribe the gasket and carefully trim accordingly. I did try a second one of these before I realized why the first one wouldn't seal. It is already leaking. Could just be a short run manufactoring issue, but I am not taking any more chances. I am going to try a different brand.
